Way too difficult and time consuming given the learning curve and the TPKs.. I like it. That said, there are a couple of design choices I hate. In a game where the items you get are so randomized but important at the same time, dealing permanent destruction debuffs, stealing money etc etc is borderline griefing. In a quicker game like slay the spire this is not a problem, but when you have invested six hours in a campaign and a random RNG encounter acids your healing weapon after a thief stole some of your herbs just before you enter the last dungeon, you might as well throw the towel and never touch it again. And this was on rookie difficulty.. pure rng (moves, attack, random encounter). every enemy you fight almost always leave you in half health, so you gotta constantly use healing items. local coop is just not fun. dont buy it. DND but affordable. First of all For The King is a very solid strategy rpg. I read some top reviews claiming this game is punishing to newbies. So upon purchase I was expecting to get whipped. However, this was not the case, in fact on the recommended starting difficulty it wasn't really all that challenging to complete on the first try but still definitely tested me (they recommend starting on the easiest difficult). I personally wouldn't say a casual gamer would have the easiest time just picking this up in all honesty. Though If you have any experience with either rpgs or strategy games you should be fine. The ProsThe art style is very unique (some may not like it understandably).Tons of replay value!Well thought out mapping makes for exciting exploration via land, air, sea and even portals! Many options in terms of character building when it comes to equipment.A large amount of enemy types that keep you on your toes.Does require you to use your brain! May seem like an odd pro but I find some games these days are somewhat brain dead. Its refreshing to play a game that makes you have to plan your moves and use your head. The ConsMusic is just average. Really nothing memorable.A minor grip for me is no skill trees or skills that one can acquire. It can make the character classes feel a bit one-dimensional. luckily, the vast array of skills from the weapons does assist in making this less of an issue.Wait does this game have RNG? Doesn't feel like it, it almost feels calculated. The game appears to have a bias towards the CPUs you face. They almost never and I mean NEVER mess up a roll. While you with a 95% chance of successfully pulling off your move you somehow miss! The game just says NOPE GET OUTTA'ER! It can feel a little unfair in this regard. The verdict 7.75 out of 10 For me the pros out weigh the cons and make for an enjoyable experience. Not a fantastic game but certainly good.. A realy fun game to play with friends.. This game has far too many mechanics designed to frustrate and annoy you. From breaking your items to robbing you blind, it leaves you feeling more angry and frustrated than satisfied after a gaming session with friends.
